We’re spiked eggnog-fueled happy and swarming in hygge to present to you the X Volume of Holiday Music XO Publicity has lovingly brought together to celebrate the season.

If you are just discovering these artists we suggest you snag all their releases, from this year and the ones from our shared past, who are back to surprise and delight fans!

After taking a couple years off of doing these xo kaytea was hit up and tagged on social media by fans of previous volumes: “Please tell me you have a new comp coming out. These are my favorite to listen to while I decorate my tree.” It was an offer she couldn’t resist!  It brings us rich joy to put together 15 gorgeous, sometimes haunting, sometimes funny, always fun tracks from shining XO stars for you to share and listen to.

This year includes artists from five different countries and from all over the United States. Five labels are included as well: ORGKILL ROCK STARSSONIC RITUALGREYSTONE MUSIC GROUP, FLUFF AND GRAVY RECORDS.

Across the spectrum, some band highlights include bringing back The Winter Sounds (shhhhh - new music coming!), with “George Bailey, Astronaut”; working again with XO’s longest running client and dearest friend Pat Kearns (“Christmas in a Chinese Restaurant”); who covered John McCauly’s (Deer Tick) song off the first Diamonds Rugs album. Also getting to announce new client Spray Allen (“Army of Jesus”) who was brought together by skateboard icon Danny Way, and is founded by drummer Wade Youman (Unwritten Law, Demasiado) and bassist Eric Wilson (Sublime, Long Beach Dub Allstars), the band spent pandemic shutdown time at an El Paso studio with Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers), Gabrial McNair (No Doubt), and Stu Brooks (Dub Trio), resulting in their upcoming 26-song double album debut (more soon!). Which you will be hearing about soon from xo estey!

Other xo return favorites include queer icon Logan Lynn for “It’s Christmas, Motherfuckers!”; seminal turned seasonal college rock legends Too Much Joy with “Ruby Left A Present Underneath the Christmas Tree”; actual Christmas music maven Charleene Crosshey with “I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day”; avant-Christmas expert and Southern post-punk Tav Falco (“Santa Claus is Back in Town”); english musician, producer and songwriter Nick Van Eede best known for singing and writing the 1986 No. 1 power ballad, "(I Just) Died in Your Arms" for his band Cutting Crew, bringing you a joyous track “In the Bleak Midwinter” and both art-ambient artist LIMINA and post-rock picadors Sleepersound booking the anthology with gorgeous celestial versions of “O Come O Come Emmanuel.” And more!

As Kaytea says, “It’s been a ride since I have put a new holiday comp out — with opening an office in Detroit, to KICKING Breast Cancer in its ASS and all of us surviving Covid I think its time again to enjoy deep holiday cheer. I have loved doing this year after year — it’s always fun to listen to our clients’ creative juices flow.

“I especially love doing the artwork…and this year I was able to include cover art by my client Uriel J. Winfree III with his amazing talents of hand drawn art to welcome our extended musical family to grateful holiday cheer! ”
